Financing the privatization programme

Measures have been taken to bring dynamism to the privatization process and notably to facilitate the financing of privatization operations:

Circular of the Central Bank of Tunisia dated November 23, 1997 authorises banks to accord within the framework of a privatization, medium-term credit directly to the interested party, for the purpose of financing the purchase of a block of controlling shares or assets.

Lines of credit, contracted by Tunisia with the European Investment Bank, are available to venture capital companies (SICAR) within the framework of their participation in privatization operations.

The Euro-Mediterranean cooperation programme (MEDA) consolidates the support of the European Union for the privatization process in Tunisia through a donation of 10 million Euros. This donation, as the object of a specific financing convention signed in April 1998, is intended for the financing of the "Project for Technical Assistance for Privatization" (specific financing convention n°TU/B7-4100/IB/96/0018).

The realization of this website has been financed by the European Union.
